Abstract

Idiopathic scrotal calcinosis (ISC) is a rare pathology that affects the scrotal skin, characterized by presenting single or multiple nodules, with calcium deposits and without alterations in complementary laboratory tests. Case description: We present the case of a 47-year-old man with multiple painless whitish and yellowish lesions on the scrotal skin, which decreases their quality of life, causing him anxiety and affecting their sexual performance. He undergoes surgical treatment by excision of the lesion and scrotoplasty, with histopathological result of papillary dermis with the presence of amorphous calcified material deposits surrounded by few histiocytes, compatible with scrotal calcinosis idiopathic. Patient with favorable post-surgical evolution and follow-up. Discussion: Its etiology is unknown and it affects mostly young men, with a predisposition in dark-skinned patients; the lesions are mostly asymptomatic, but visible on physical examination. Definitive treatment is surgical, and its recurrence rate is not well described. Conclusion: Despite being a very rare and benign pathology, it can cause serious damage to the patient’s psychosocial sphere. Therefore, the objective of this report is to recognize the clinical characteristics allows for a correct approach and treatment, without neglecting follow-up to recognize possible post-surgical recurrences.
