Neuropatía periférica crónica como presentación de Síndrome de POEMS. Reporte de caso

POEMS syndrome is a rare variant of plasma cell dyscrasia; the presentation of this disease is variable; however, polyneuropathy is one of the key symp- toms belonging to this syndrome. Peripheral neuropathy is characterized by distal in onset, symmetrical and progressive, over a period of weeks to months, resulting in severe muscle weakness to limitation of gait. We present a patient with long-standing sensory-motor polyneuropathy, adding hypo- thyroidism, skin lesions, monoclonal band, organomegaly and osteosclero- tic lesions, where the infiltration of plasma cells was confirmed, granting the diagnosis of POEMS Syndrome.
