About the Journal

The Gaceta Médica de la Junta de Beneficencia is the official publication of scientific dissemination of the Junta de Beneficencia. Since its inception in 1893, called Gaceta Médica Revista Ecuatoriana de Medicina, Cirugía y Farmacia published by today's Hospital Luis Vernaza, its purpose is to encourage the promotion and dissemination of research conducted in the areas of Health Sciences, publishing articles related to the work developed in the study centers or public and private health institutions. In addition, the journal will promote publications related to basic sciences, with the aim of facilitating the transfer and exchange of knowledge and/or experiences among teachers, students, health professionals, and the general community. This journal is aimed at all health professionals, including physicians in their various areas of specialization, nurses, technicians, psychologists, and university students of health sciences.

Therefore, the journal aims to publish multidisciplinary and often interdisciplinary research, always within the field of health sciences. We evaluate manuscripts submitted on the basis of methodological rigor and high ethical standards, regardless of perceived novelty. It is also open to receive national and international contributions to consolidate and promote new knowledge through the dissemination and diffusion of research in the health field. Some of our thematic areas are: internal medicine and all its specialties, surgery and all its specialties, nutrition, gynecology and obstetrics, pediatrics, psychiatry and mental health, public health, psychology, physical therapy and rehabilitation, patient safety and quality of care and all those covered by national and international validation and certification systems.
