The Gaceta Médica de la Junta de Beneficencia accepts for publication papers that meet the following requirements of originality and format and that are approved by the Editorial Board. Therefore, the journal aims to publish multidisciplinary and often interdisciplinary research; always within the field of health sciences. We evaluate manuscripts submitted on the basis of methodological rigor and high ethical standards, regardless of perceived novelty. It is also open to receive national and international contributions with the aim of consolidating and promoting new knowledge through the dissemination and diffusion of research in the field of health. Some of our thematic areas are: internal medicine and all its specialties, surgery and all its specialties, nutrition, gynecology and obstetrics, pediatrics, psychiatry and mental health, public health, psychology, physical therapy and rehabilitation, patient safety and quality of care and all those covered by national and international validation and certification systems. The content of the article is the sole responsibility of the author.

USE OF PUBLICATION GUIDELINES

The use of publication guidelines improves the quality, precision and transparency of the information in the studies. International guidelines for the reporting of health research results should be followed and applied to the specific type of study; the application of these guidelines facilitates the review process. We consider it an essential requirement that the authors provide the checklist on the last page of the manuscript, indicating the number of the page that addresses each section of the guidelines.

TYPES OF MANUSCRIPTS RECEIVED:

Original articles: Clinical or experimental papers, randomized clinical trials, cohort studies, screening or diagnostic test studies, cost-effectiveness analyses, decision making evaluation studies, interventional studies, case-control studies, prevalence studies, observational studies, and survey-based studies in which a high response rate has been obtained will be considered. They will have a maximum length of 3000 words excluding: the title page, the abstract, the key words, the bibliographic references (maximum 40) and the figure and table captions. Up to 6 tables or figures will be accepted.

Case Reports or Case Series: Relevant publications of cases that may be of scientific and/or academic interest due to their novelty. They will have a maximum length of up to 1500 words excluding the title page and the abstract. Bibliographic references up to a maximum of 20 and figures or tables of 3 (a higher number could be considered depending on the clinical case to be presented).

Review Articles, Systematic Reviews and/or Meta-Analyses: Systematic reviews may or may not use statistical methods (meta-analysis) to analyze and summarize the results of the included studies. The PRISMA guidelines available at: http://prisma-statement.org/ will be followed. The maximum length of the manuscript will be 4000 words excluding the title page, abstract or structured abstract (maximum 250), keywords, bibliography (maximum 80 references) and figure captions. Up to 5 tables or figures may be included. The maximum number of signatories should not exceed 6.

Letters to the Editor: In this section, objections or comments related to articles recently published in the Journal (Letters to the Editor), as well as observations or experiences that, due to their characteristics, can be summarized in a brief text and communicated in a short form (Scientific Letters), will be published.

PREPARATION OF THE MANUSCRIPT:

In general terms papers submitted to the Gaceta Médica de la Junta de Beneficencia should be written according to the following specifications:

STRUCTURE OF THE MANUSCRIPT

Title page

  • Title (as far as possible not to exceed 15 - 20 words)
  • Full names of the authors as they wish to be cited.
  • Affiliation of each of the authors
  • Mailing address and ORCID of each author (https://orcid.org/)
  • Correspondence: name and surname(s) of the corresponding author(s), telephone and complete mailing address (institutional or private), permanent e-mail address.
  • Abstract: A structured abstract (introduction, materials and methods, results, conclusions) should be included, with a maximum of 250 words each.
  • Keywords: At the end of each abstract, 3 to 6 keywords should be indicated, that allow the integration of the work into databases.

SELF-ARCHIVING POLICY

Gaceta Médica JBG supports the self-archiving of articles to promote the dissemination and accessibility of scientific knowledge. Authors are permitted to deposit the following versions of their work under the conditions described below:

  • Submitted Version (Preprint):
    Authors may deposit the submitted version (before peer review) in any institutional, disciplinary, or preprint repository of their choice, at any time. No restrictions apply. It is recommended that authors indicate that the manuscript is a preprint and has not yet been peer-reviewed.
  • Accepted Version (Author Accepted Manuscript):
    Authors may deposit the accepted version (after peer review and acceptance, but before publisher formatting) in institutional repositories, subject-specific repositories, or personal websites immediately after acceptance. No embargo period is required. Authors must clearly indicate that this is the accepted manuscript and provide a citation and link to the published version in Gaceta Médica JBG once it is available.
  • Published Version (Version of Record):
    Authors may deposit the published version (final version with journal formatting) in institutional repositories, disciplinary repositories, personal websites, or academic social networks immediately upon publication. A full citation to the final published article, including the DOI link, must be provided.

General Conditions:
Proper attribution to Gaceta Médica JBG as the original publisher must be included in all cases. Deposited versions must not be altered in a way that could misrepresent the content or its peer-reviewed status.
